The heart and hip spaces are deeply interconnected, both physically and energetically. These areas act as energy reservoirs, often holding onto old, stagnant energy that needs a little help to release.
The Heart Space
The shoulders, chest and arms are most commonly associated with the heart chakra. While this energy center is often linked to love and relationships, it also holds space for our passion projects and deeper sense of purpose. Governed by the element of air, the heart chakra benefits greatly from intentional breathwork. Simply taking a deep breath all the way down to your belly can help clear out old energy, making space for renewal and fresh opportunities.
My Favorite Ways to Support the Heart Space:
Tapping – Gentle intuitive tapping over the chest can stimulate energy flow and movement when the area feels heavy and full.
Hand on Heart + Deep Breaths – This simple practice helps ground your energy and bring awareness back to your body, allowing energy to start to flow.
Fish Pose – A gentle heart opener that encourages expansion and release.
The Hip Space
The hips are associated with the sacral chakra, the center of creativity, emotions, and flow. This is a key area where we tend to store tension—both physically and emotionally. Releasing this space can lead to greater mobility, emotional balance, and an overall sense of ease in the body.
My Favorite Ways to Support the Hip Space:
Gentle Hip Stretches & Strength Work
Hip Circles – Helps release stagnant energy and improve flow through the area
Bridge Pose – A great way to strengthen and open the hips simultaneously.
Shower Release Technique – Water is a powerful element for cleansing, releasing, and rebalancing. As you stand in the shower (or any body of water), allow the water to wash over you. Visualize it carrying away any tension, stagnant energy, or emotions that no longer serve you. With each breath, open yourself to release, letting the water effortlessly rinse it all away and send it down the drain.
Belly Breathing – Using the breath intentionally to soften and release tension. You can even visualize your hip space and breathe into any spaces that feel tight or congested with stuck energy to facilitate movement.
